Rod Scheaffer, 29, looks at some of his beadwork at his home in Half Town, outside the Fort Belknap Agency near Harlem, Montana, USA. Scheaffer says that if he weren't in college right now, he'd probably be working on his beadwork. The beadwork is used on clothing worn at powwows. Scheaffer is a member of the Fort Belknap College Eagles men's basketball team. Scheaffer runs a concrete business, but decided to enroll with the minimum required credits at Fort Belknap College in order to play on the basketball team. After 2 months at the college, "I realized the real battlefield for our people is the education game," he said. For his second semester, in 2011, Scheaffer will be taking a full load of classes as a step toward a degree in business administration. Scheaffer says he would not have enrolled in college if not for the basketball team.
