Just beneath the Wild West, meth addicts tweak and glaciers melt, and there's a disquietude across the Last Best Place. The Reservations have taken their toll, and the derricks are starting up again to draw on the state's minerals. In the northwest where asbestos mines poisoned thousands, or around Butte where mining scorched the land, the costs of this exploitation are well known. This project focuses on Montana's people and their role in shaping the state and its environment.
